Remember that one time when you forgot to wear the oven mit and burnt your fingers while taking the delicious cake out of the stove? We’ll, we don’t want the same happening to you. That’s why we’ll share a totally pro hookah tip on how to move the burning coal on your hookah.
A few weeks ago we shared some tips on how to make your hookah taste fresh. If you happened to read that one you’ll probably remember that one those tips was to move the coal every 5-7 minutes to keep the tobacco from burning. Many readers then asked us – are there any pro tips to move the burning coal on the hookah. Well, sure there are! Let us give some examples.
Full disclaimer – please note that the following tips apply to Hekkpipe hookah. We don’t recommend trying those moves on any other hookahs.
The number 1 hookah tip: Tilt the hookah…
When you’re the owner of a traditional hookah, you’d know that in order to move the coal during the hookah sessions, you’d have to keep the pincers near. Each time there’s a need to change the coal’s location (and remember, we suggested to do that after every 5-7 minutes) you literally play with fire, increasing the risk of dropping the burning coal. And no, none of us wants to drop the hot coal!
As a (soon-to-be) Hekkpipe hookah owner, you can forget about the hookah tongs. Well, okay, as far as coal moving is conserned. 🙂 You’d still need the tongs when replacing the coal. But the essential tip for moving the burning coal on Hekkpipe is… tilting! Yes, tilting. Let us give you some more details on that.
All Hekkpipe models – the Hexagon, Active and Deluxe are designed to be as portable as possible. That means, all you have to do to move the burning coal is simply to tilt the hookah up to 45 degrees.
Here are two educational videos on how to do that. Keep in mind that you don’t actually need to open the lid, because you can see the coal from the top opening – we open the lid only to show you that the coal really changes its location. 🙂
If you’re a Hexagon owner and you bought your hookah before the summer of 2016 or in the beginning of summer of 2017 (that means, you have a Hexagon with 6 magic magnets), we recommend opening the lid by twisting – otherwise, the easiest way is to pull the lid.
… and keep on going
Once done, just repeat the step after every 5-7 minutes so that the tobacco won’t burn. So, having obtained the most essential tip for a Hookah owner, you’re all set to prepare your next hookah session.
